“Decido IO”
The Decido IO (I Decide) project started with the aim of contributing to the prevention of risk behaviors associated with addiction and the use of legal and illegal substances by minors and young people, as well as strengthening protection factors.
The theoretical model of reference for Decido IO is the educational / promotional / preventive model, engaging each recipient through interactive lessons, workshops, debates, meetings and film forums.
The project involved the classes of the “Silvio Pellico” Middle School and the San Domenico Savio Salesian Center in Arese, in the province of Milan, with the collaboration of the teaching staff, school personnel, local authorities and institutions, external professionals, students and their families.
The project focused on young adolescents in the second year of middle school, because of their age group at risk, statistically ranking as the highest number of first experimental drug use.
Thanks to Decido IO, health education, prevention and awareness raising programs were activated, thus helping young adolescents to become aware of the value of life and health, develop a critical attitude towards risky behavior and to favor group work.
